![]() Langdon might be doing most of his waffling on the hoof now, but he often comes off like a harassed tourist guide pointing out the important stuff to all us idiots. But if this souped-up model has plenty more zip about it, why does it again fail to get into first gear? Part of the answer lies with its central character: Angels & Demons confirms Robert Langdon as a hero so curiously uncharismatic that even Tom Hanks can't flesh him out with a bit of charm. ![]() He's even introduced on the move, crushing lengths in the Harvard swimming pool while decked out in a fetching pair of speedos. ![]() They've certainly been far less reverential than before, reworking the plot and characters to keep the movie constantly charging forward, refusing to give Langdon a second to catch his breath and giving him a suitable punishment when he does make a professorial pitstop into the archives. ![]()
